About Us
Neil James Mullen (NJM) incorporated the company in June 2003 after
successfully being awarded two prestigious zinc roofing and cladding projects in
Edinburgh with a combined value of £1.85 million.
Neil recognized
the need for further staff to assist with surveying, estimating and
administration duties which would leave him to concentrate on the key element of
providing an outstanding service on a day to day basis at site level.
Sean
Taylor was appointed in September 2003 to oversee the clerical side of the works
and the company now had a strong core that covered all elements of running a
successful roofing and cladding company.
Collectively Neil and Sean
have 45 years experience in specialist traditional hard metal roofing and
cladding and have the confidence and knowledge to successfully complete projects
of any shape and size. We thrive and are motivated on schemes that are deemed to
be on the fringe of design parameters.
The company continued to grow through the next few years as the reward for
providing excellent service lead ultimately to new business leads and
ventures.
Whilst concentrating mainly on the North Eastern seaboard the
company now had specialist hard metal roofing and cladding work throughout the
North of England and Southern Scotland.
The company resisted the
temptation to expand too quickly and jeopardize service however the need for
larger business premises and further staff prevailed and in 2006 the company
acquired it's current premises on the Team Valley in Gateshead.
In 2007
a major developer and longstanding client of NJM approached us to undertake an
aluminium 'zip up' roof on a new apartment scheme in Edinburgh, priding
ourselves on service we agreed to undertake the project even though we had
sufficient hard metal contracts at the time. The contract required further
staffing and investment in machinery.
We appointed a contracts manager to oversee the project which entailed 3,500
metre squared of KeyBemo roofing, rooflights, mansafe system and aluminium
flashings.
Completing the project successfully opened opportunities in
all aspects of the building envelope, we can now offer a full compliment of
roofing and cladding disciplines and still concentrate on our core principle of
outstanding service.
As the company has developed we have taken on
further administration staff, expanded our premises to incorporate fabrication
facilities and opened a second office concentrating primarily on
design.
Our current projects range in value from £5,000
to £845,000 and anticipated turnover for 2011 — 2012 is
circa £3 million.
